RALEIGH, N.C. — Heavy rain pounded the City of Oaks Thursday morning, leading to flash flooding that closed roads.

A car was swamped by floodwaters off Atlantic Avenue, and lanes of the 440 Beltline near the Glenwood Avenue exit were blocked by police as water overtook parts of the highway around noon.

A cold front is pushing its way across the central part of the state, leading to rainfall, and a flash flood warning has been issued until 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The rain is expected to let up this afternoon, weather forecasters say.

Here is a live look at how the severe weather is impacting the Raleigh area.
