There’s a big police presence at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem after a shooting there, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The school is on lockdown.
“We and the WSPD have secured the campus and are doing everything possible to keep students safe. We are actively investigating what happened and will share confirmed information as appropriate,” the sheriff’s office said.
The City of Winston-Salem told parents shortly after noon Wednesday not to go to the high school, but to gather at the Harris Teeter grocery store on on Peace Haven Drive. As of about 1 p.m., authorites were taking students to the Robinhood Family YMCA where they could be reunited with parents.
Officers are still looking for the shooter, according to police radio traffic.
Spectrum News 1 has crews headed to the scene and this story will be updated.
