Shooting reported outside Greensboro police station

Greensboro, North Carolina, police say there was a shooting near the police station in downtown.


A shooting outside the Greensboro police headquarters has shut down several streets downtown Friday afternoon.

The shooting happened just before 3:15 p.m., police spokesman Ronald Glenn said in a news release.

There are few details on the shooting as of Friday afternoon, but police are expected to hold a news conference later Friday.

Police asked people to avoid the area around downtown.

“At this time S. Eugene Street and Federal Place are closed from McGee St. to West Washington Street and West Washington Street is closed eastbound from Eugene to Federal Place. McGee Street is closed from Federal Place to Eugene Street,” the department said.
