Durham police find missing teenage girl

Durham police successfully located a missing teenage girl, Donna Rae Russell, on Sunday afternoon, bringing relief to concerned family and community members.

Authorities had initiated a search for the 18-year-old after she was last seen around 4 p.m. on Saturday in the vicinity of the 2600 block of Dovetail Drive, situated near Carpenter Road in northeast Durham.

Described as a Black woman standing at 5’1” tall and weighing between 130-140 pounds, Russell possesses distinctive features with brown eyes and dark brown hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was reportedly attired in an oversized red t-shirt paired with white shorts.

Responding to the urgency of the situation, a Missing and Endangered Alert was activated to expedite efforts in locating Russell, recognizing the need to safeguard individuals vulnerable to cognitive impairments from potential harm or exploitation.

Thankfully, Durham police shared the welcome news on Sunday afternoon that Russell had been located, reassuring the public and alleviating concerns about her well-being.
