Durham police are currently conducting an investigation following a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning.
Around 12:45 a.m., the Durham Police Department received reports of a crash. Hector Reyna Gutierrez, 45, of Raleigh, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup on Interstate 40 when, according to police, he veered off the road and collided with a concrete beam and support beams for an overhead highway sign.
Unfortunately, Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the aftermath of the crash, several lanes between the Page Road and Miami Boulevard exits remained closed for an extended period.
