Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey to discuss disaster preparedness, recognize lower fire inspections ratings, deliver fire safety coloring books during trip to Brunswick County Thursday

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey is scheduled to meet with Brunswick County building inspectors and officials Thursday, Oct. 1, to discuss inspections updates and how to best prepare and respond to disasters that can damage homes and property.

Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will also meet with fire chiefs to recognize efforts to lower inspections ratings that can save homeowners and businesses money on their insurance premiums. He will also distribute coloring books to educate children on the importance of fire safety in light of Fire Prevention Week Oct. 4- 10.

The coloring books are part of the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina’s Operation EDITH fire safety program. “EDITH” is an acronym for Exit Drill In The Home.”
